Fairfield Municipality
in Sydney, Australia approved
erection of a so called
“Assyrian genocide”
monumentinthe park of the
municipality.
Efforts of Turkish Community in Australiawere
not enough toprevent approval
of erection of so called
monument.
500 Turkish-Australian held
a protest demonstration before
the meeting in City Hall for
decision on erection of the
monument. At the same time,
there were Assyrian people
on the other side of police
cordon, waving Assyrian and
Armenian flags.
A delegation
of 10 representatives from both
Turkish and Assyrian parties
entered to the meeting hall
at 19:00. The Head of Turkish
Delegation, Chairman of NSW
Turkish Organizations Council
Dursun Candemir returned
in a few minutes and announced
that they were not let
to express their opinion about
the issue. “The resolution
is approved on consensus,”
said he.
Assyrians in Australia are
supported by Armenian and Greek
Diaspora organizations and they
aim recongition of so called
Assyrian genocide by NSW State
and Federal Government
of Australia. |
