Controversial politician Fred Nile was an unexpected visitor among the Turkish and Assyrian protestors at Fairfield Council’s meeting tonight.

Rev Nile, an outspoken campaigner against the “Islamification’’ of Australia, was there in support of the proposed monument.

He asked to speak at the council meeting, but was not allowed.

After the meeting, he congratulated the group of Assyrian protestors outside the council chambers.

“The Assyrian parties are crying out for this monument,"” he said.
