Senator John J. Nimrod

May 1, 1922 - January 4, 2009


 

Military Service:

·         Combat veteran, World War II (1942-1946) and Korean conflict (1950-1952).

·         Six years service in Europe and Far East

·         Graduated first in O.C.S. at Fort Benning, Georgia

·         Six battle stars, combat infantry badge, bronze star and Wahrung Korean medal, which is the highest award given to a non-Korean civilian

·         Honorably discharged as Captain, 1952

Education:

·         Northwestern University, B.S. degree in mechanical and industrial engineering, 1950.

Public Service:

·         Senator, State of Illinois, 4th District (1973-1983)

·         Elected Republican Party Official – 16 years

·         Worked with 6 US Presidents, Cabinet Members and numerous Members of Congress

United Nations Post:

·         Chairman – UNPO General Assembly, The Hague, Netherlands (1992-2004)

·         President – UNPO Foundation USA, Washington, D.C. (2000-2008)

Assyrian Universal Alliance

·         Secretary General (1994 – 2005)

·         President – AUA Foundation (1999-2008)

Survivors:

·         Wife: Dorothy Ingeborg (Paul) Nimrod

·         Children: Lizbeth Nimrod, Naomi (Charlie) Dickinson, Joseph John (Lynn), and John Joseph

·         Grandchildren: Janet (Dickinson) Felton, Anna Dickinson, Loribeth Dickinson, John Paul Nimrod, Joseph Nimrod Jr., Jack Nimrod

·         Great Grandchildren: Mya Nimrod, Thomas Nimrod, Raymond Felton

·         Brother of the late Helen James Schwarten and Susie Badal
