The Assyrian Universal Alliance Australia Chapter (AUA) welcomed on February 21, 2017 at their Centre in Wetherill Park a delegation of the Assyrian Democratic Movement (ADM), headed by Mr. Ninab Yousif, member of the ADM Political Bureau and Central Committee, who is visiting Australia, accompanied by Mr. Emmanuel Sada Chairman of Sydney Branch of the ADM; Mr. George Adam Deputy Chairman of Sydney Branch of the ADM; Mr. Younan Younan and Mr. Sargon Kelaita members of ADM Sydney Branch. The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Hermiz Shahen, Deputy Secretary General of AUA, Mr. David M. David regional Secretary of Australia and New Zealand of AUA, Mr. Simon Essavian, Executive board member of AUA, together with Mr David I David and Mr. Benjamin Jabro, members of the AUA Administrative committee of Australia .

The meeting lasted more than two hours during which many issues were discussed related to our people in Iraq and the latest political developments on the Iraqi arena, Mr. Ninab Yousif talked about the Nineveh Plain Protection Unit Forces (NPU), their formation and the restraints they are facing. He also talked about the solutions that have been put forward and the role of our people in Diaspora in providing assistance and support for the national cause in our homeland. The delegation listened to a detailed explanation of the AUA activities in Australia and its views on the latest developments in north of Iraq and the stand needed to face challenges, abuses and violations against our people’s rights in the occupied homeland.

The AUA praised the reconciliation initiative between the Entity of Abnaa Al- Nahrain and the Assyrian Democratic Movement and consider it a positive and a precious step to create consensus and solidarity between the two parties and look forward to a new era that folds divisions of the past. The significance of the current stage requires giving priority to unity and work with sincerity on all sides issues.

At the end of the meeting, Mr Hermiz Shahen presented a symbolic gift to Mr. Ninab Yousif a medal that symbolizes the 100 anniversary of the genocide committed by the Ottoman Turkey during World War I against Assyrian people. Assyrian Universal Alliance wishes Mr. Ninab Yousif a pleasant stay in Australia and success to ADM in accomplishing its efforts to serve our national interest.
