The 4th CONGRESS TEHRAN, IRAN OCTOBER 23-26, 1971

Assyrian Universal Alliance > Resolutions > Congress Resolutions > The 4th CONGRESS TEHRAN, IRAN OCTOBER 23-26, 1971

1.The Congress hereby expresses its deep gratitude to His Imperial Majesty Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi Shah-in-Shah Aryamehr, for his salutary message of welcome and success.

2.The Congress acknowledges the Government’s generosity in providing free assemblage and the aid afforded the Assyrian in Iran, socially, religiously and educationally. It is the abiding regard for Iran that the Assyrian specially scheduled to hold the Congress in Tehran on the solemn occasion of the commemoration of the celebrations of 2500 Anniversary of the founding of the Persian Empire.

3.We offer our abiding appreciation to His Excellency Amir Abbass Hoveyda the Prime Minister of Iran for his address of welcome at the opening of the Congress.

4.The Assyrians are the remnant of the once great Assyrian Empire. Since World War I hundreds of thousands of the Assyrians have died for the cause of freedom and the Allied Victory. However, in the light of the fact that the Assyrians are now in complete dispersion in all parts of the world, the Congress adopted as its primary objective a national home for the Assyrians. The Congress regrets that in some countries the Assyrians have been denied all aspects having reference to Human Rights and Dignity. The Congress is fully aware of the fact that the Assyrians are a peaceful people and are entitled to live in peace and deserve self-preservation.

5.With firm faith in the character of Human Rights and the Declaration of the United Nations pertaining to freedom.
